Connecting with Nutrition Educators at the SNEB Conference
This week we had the pleasure of being a part of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior’s annual conference in Washington, DC. The meeting drew nearly 700 nutrition educators from government, industry and academia who gathered to discuss some of today’s most pressing food-related issues. The theme of the conference was “Nutrition Education: Energy from Synergy” and there was a real focus on collaboration and partnership among the attendees.
Because it was held in the nation’s capital, speakers included leading governmental figures, such as Sam Kass, the White House Assistant Chef who is championing the Let’s Move effort alongside First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as CNPP Deputy Director, Dr. Robert Post. Each of them shared steps the federal government is taking to ensure a healthy food environment for all Americans, including collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors.
In addition to the sessions, we participated in the conference exhibit where we shared our educational resources about grains nutrition, including those available on our website. The exhibit was a wonderful opportunity to connect directly with many of today’s leading nutrition educators.
